The Media Strategy by September 15th?

Belgrade, August 24, 2011 (Danas) - The Commission formed for the suggestions on the Proposal of the Draft Media Strategy is expected to finish its work during this or next week, after which this document will be officially presented to the public and Serbian MPs. 

Predrag Markovic, Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society confirmed to the daily Danas that he had informed the Prime Minister that the text of the Strategy had been completed, when he had asked him to pass the Strategy to the Government for its adoption by September 15, 2011.

According to unofficial information, the text, which has not been presented to the public yet, contains only 20 to 30 percent of the content of the proposals made by the working group for drafting the Media Strategy.  

The Commission formed for this purpose had its first meeting on Monday when a version of the Strategy, prepared by the Ministry after receiving the comments and suggestions, was presented to the members of the Commission. Apart from the representatives of the Ministry's Sector for Media and Telecommunications, the Commission is composed of representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Republic Secretariat for Legislation, the European Integration Office, the experts of the European Commission, working group that prepared the first Draft and the Agency for Protection of Competition.
