The state allocates more than 20 million EUR for the media
Belgrade, September 12, 2011. (Danas) - Last year, the amount of state aid intended for the Serbian media sector was around 21 million EUR, while around 25 million has been allocated this year - it is the information provided in the analysis of the situation in the media in the Proposal of the Media Strategy. According to this text, approximately 5 million EUR has been allocated at the Republic level, approximately 3, 5 million EUR at the Province level, while appriximately 16, 5 million EUR has been allocated at the level of local self-governments.
„A part of these funds is allocated to public companies and institutions, whose existence is regulated by the legal acts. A part of the funds is allocated via public calls for stimulating the development of public information through co-financing of the best projects and programs in this field" - this is the information provided in the analysis of the situation in the media.
According to the analysis, what represents a problem is the fact that the state does not have a record of the spent funds, on any level - central, Province, regional and local. Therefore, it is not possible to determine the amount and structure of this aid. "What else could be noted is the lack of efficient monitoring of the realization of the aid, evaluation of its effects and adequate reporting. The Republic of Serbia will monitor the realization of allocated aid, will perform evaluation of its effects, on which the public will adequately be informed" - it is provided in the Proposal of the Media Strategy.
