Domination on the Serbian media market?

Essen, Belgrade, October 4, 2011 (Danas) - Announced change of the ownership structure of the German media group VAC had been interesting for Serbia before another German media group Axel Springer involved in negotiations with the present owners with its offer for taking this company over. Both publishers have their ownership shares in Serbian media.

Springer established a joint venture with the Swiss company Ringier, the owner of Belgrade based newspapers Blic, Alo, Nin. VAC, which already has its ownership shares in Politika and Dnevnik, has not officially given up its intention to buy Vecernje Novosti. If it happens and if Springer takes over VAC, the Springer's domination over the Serbian media market would be almost total.
