RADIO BOOM 93 JOURNALIST AWARDED

Pozarevac, January 6, 2012 (Danas - Branicevo) - Uros Urosevic, journalist of Pozarevac-based Radio Boom 93, was one of the winners of the award for the best media piece on European integration process in Serbia, broadcast in the period from January 1 to December 31, 2011.

The award of a study trip to Brussels was presented by the European Integration Office of Republic of Serbia, Delegation of European Union to Serbia and Erste Bank.

Urosevic was awarded for the best radio report on the improvement of living conditions of around 120 Roma removed from their homes on Kosovo and placed in a settlement on the outskirts of Pozarevac.

Using the example of a Roma family, which has obtained a new home with the funds from the Pozarevac municipality, the Commissariat for Refugees of Republic of Serbia, German non-governmental organization ASB and European Union, the journalist has pointed out the importance of solving the housing problems as a prerequisite for complete inclusion of Roma population in society. The report has pointed, in particular, to the significance of education of Roma children and improvement of their everyday culture of living.
