RBA TO MEET WITH TV AVALA OWNERS

Belgrade, January 11, 2012 (Danas) - Representatives of the Republic Broadcasting Agency (RBA) held an informal meeting yesterday with representatives of strike committee of TV Avala employees. The Agency is to meet with TV station owners today, who have promised to attend, said Milos Rajkovic, member of the RBA Council yesterday after the meeting.

Responding to the demands of the strike committee to establish the true owner of the said station, Rajkovic pointed out that "the ownership structure of TV Avala is transparent and true owners can be identified in the data of RBA and Business Register Agency".

According to Rajkovic, the RBA is currently continuously monitoring the program, in order to establish the adherence to all legal provisions. He also says that, if any serious violation of regulations on TV Avala have occurred, the RBA will react firstly by warning and later with the last measure of revoking the broadcasting license of this media.

President of the strike committee of TV Avala employees Nikola Vukomanovic told daily Danas that the meeting was merely a consultation with the representatives of the Agency, who had assured them of doing all in their competence to resolve this matter.

"Another round of talks is to follow, together with representatives of the employees in strike and RBA, members of the TV Avala managing board and station's owners", Vukomanovic said, adding that the representatives of the strike committee would meet later today with representatives of OSCE Mission to Serbia.
