TV AVALA OWNERS PROMISED TO PAY WAGES

Belgrade, January 12, 2012 (Politika) - Losing its broadcasting license will be the worst case scenario for TV Avala, however, that is likely to be avoided as the owners of this media, Johanes Werner Kraus from "Greenberg Invest", Darko Djunic, Zeljko Mitrovic and Dragan Sagovnovic from the Institute of Economy, have promised to the representatives of the Republic Broadcasting Agency to solve all problems in the next two months.

This was disclosed to the media by the Vicar Bishop of Jegar Porfirije, also the Chairman of the RBA Council, after one-hour meeting with TV Avala owners.

At the said meeting, the owners informed members of the RBA Council that one and a half late salary would be paid by the end of the month, while two more by March 1. By the end of the day, the employees would be paid back related taxes and none of those being in strike would not suffer any disciplinary measures.

It was also said that the business account of the television station had been unblocked almost entirely and that the new management, together with new chief editor, would establish full control over the program broadcasting, all the while respecting the right of employees to strike.

Dusan Pancic has been appointed new chief editor of the station, while the request of hitherto chief editor, Bojana Lekic, not to extend her contract was granted.

Owners also uttered that steps had been taken to find new partners, investors or creditors who could cover the station' running costs, including dues to employees.
