HARDER TIMES FOR MEDIA

Valjevo, January 18, 2012 (Politika) - The harder times are coming gor the majority of media, as they will face a serious "downsizing" as there are simply not enough money for everyone. 

This was pointed out at the panel discussion "Media Strategy - what's next?" held in Valjevo in the organization of all media and journalists' associations in Serbia together with the Press Council.

One of the conclusions of the discussion was that the Media Strategy had been finally adopted after almost one year and a half of fighting of the media coalition with the one in power for this process to be concluded. However, since October last year, nothing has changed on the media scene. The media are not the majority owners of their destiny, while already grave situation has been further deteriorated.

NUNS President Vukasin Obradovic pointed out that the media scene would soon face the fact that a vast number of media would be closed.

UNS President Ljiljana Smajlovic said that the situation was only worsening particularly in terms of pressures on media freedom, which was permanently discrediting the essence of journalistic profession.
