OSCE TO KNOW ABOUT ANY PRESSURE ON JOURNALISTS

Nis, March 10, 2012 (Danas) - Association of Journalists from Nis called on journalists to inform this organization about any kind of pressure they face in performing their work.

"The OSCE authorized the Association of Journalists from Nis to collect and forward information on all cases of violations of freedom of media. Political parties and their leaders are now warned that the Serbian and European institutions in charge of media freedoms will be notified on any inappropriate act on journalists, and that Association of Journalists from Nis, through their legal office, would initiate proceedings before the competent authorities to protect journalists", said in the statement.

On the occasion of the upcoming election campaign, media from Nis were warned to "strictly adhere to the Public Information Law and to the guidelines of the RBA" while reporting on activities of political parties.
