Media to stimulate debate on women's rights

Belgrade, March 8, 2012 (Tanjug) - The media can play an important role in strengthening women's rights. However, engagement of other actors in society is necessary too, it was agreed today in the debate about women's rights in Serbia and the role of the media.

The media should stimulate discussion on gender equality, violence against women and related issues, said Vincent Degert, Head of EU Delegation in Serbia, which, in cooperation with the NGO Media Education Centre, organized a debate entitled "The position of women in Serbia through the generations - the role of women in the media".
