TRIBUNAL RE-OPENS INVESTIGATION OF 16 RTS WORKERS' DEATH IN 1999

Belgrade, March 28, 2012 (Danas) - Tribunal for organized crime could launch new investigation of the circumstances and responsible for 16 RTS workers' death during NATO air raids over Serbia in 1999, daily Danas reported.

Zanka Stojanovic, mother of one of the RTS workers killed in the air raid Nebojsa Simeunovic, said that a Deputy Prosecutor for organized crime at the Special Tribunal in Ustanicka Street had informed her of the decision to open a new investigation on the killing of 16 workers of this media.

"There are elements for re-opening investigation according to this Tribunal. However, we still have no information against whom the charges will be raised, but we believe that responsible from the then Supreme Defense Council, that is, the Sector for Civil Defense, should be the first on the list", Stojanovic told the daily.

According to her, the Defense Minister Sutanovac is now allowing opening of files, which contain verified information that the Supreme Council of Defense was clearly notified that this media outlet was set as a target.
