JOURNALIST CLAIMS 2.5 million

Novi Sad, April 6, 2012. (Dnevnik) - Nine years after the incident, in which the leader of Nova Srbija political party Velimir Ilic had hit the journalist from TV "Apollo" (Novi Sad) Vladimir Jesic during the interview in Belgrade, the first instance proceeding against Ilic was finally ended. On yesterday's final hearing in this litigation process, Jesic's lawyer Vladimir Horowitz submitted the damage claim in amount of 2.5 million RSD to the court and the final verdict is expected within 15 days.

In the request for damage claim, the plaintiff stated that an amount of 1.25 million dinars was claimed for mental anguish and hurt reputation and honor, 250,000 dinars for minor injuries and one million dinars for fear suffered.

According to the lawyer Jova Popovic, who represents Velimir Ilic, the claim for compensation is too high and it is not corresponding to the act the suit was led for, but that he would be able to comment the whole process after the verdict is final.
