Five men indicted for putting up B92 death notices

Belgrade, April 19, 2012 (B92) - The Second Public Prosecution has indicted five suspects for putting up B92 death notices in the town of Lazarevac in February 2011.

35-year-old Nenad Pavlović, 24-year-old Dušan Šuka, 24-year-old Nikola Bjeković and 23-year-old Ivan Pantelić from Lazarevac have been indicted.

They are charged with jeopardizing safety and violent behavior.

The prosecution stated in the indictment that Pavlović in the night between February 14 and 15, 2011 brought glue, a brush and around 50 posters resembling death notices referring to B92 and its employees and handed them to the other suspects and told them where to put them.

While they were putting up the posters, the suspects cursed and insulted Dane Tomanović and Vladimir Vuković who condemned their action. The suspects threatened them and then started hitting and kicking them.

Tomanović suffered a broken nose in the incident. A cross, B92 and Ne-B92 (No-B92) was printed on the poster.

"We inform you that Radio Television B92 died suddenly after a long and serious anti-Serb illness on January 31, 2011. The funeral will be organized by Veran Matić, Brankica Stanković, Irena Stević, Tanja Janković, Mirjana Jevtović and other feces," read the death notice which was signed by "Bereaved people of Lazarevac".

The posters appeared after B92 aired investigative program Insajder (Insider) series dubbed "Fraud of the century" which looked into abuses in the Kolubara coal mine.

The prosecution believes that the suspects seriously threatened and jeopardized the safety of persons who perform public information work and that they jeopardized citizens' safety and seriously violated public peace and order.
