INFORMATION NOT FREE OF CHARGE

World media suggest charging the content on the Internet

Belgrade, July 27, 2012. (Danas) - In recent years, circulation of daily and weekly newspapers is falling, many of them are closed, and the audience is increasingly turning to the Internet. Younger readers, unlike older ones, have no habit of buying newspapers every day, so many world publishers see the solution in the global information network and charging the content, even on the Internet

Researchs show that 39 percent of internet users regularly visit the website of dailies, while those aged between 14 and 29 years, namely the age group considered to be not really interested in everyday politics, this percentage is 62 percent

As for many media outlets in Serbia, paying for their online content does not exist. Some media provide a a part of their content for free, while entire content can be read in their print edition. On the other hand, some media, such as NIN and Vreme offer a limited amount of content, and subscribers to the electronic editions could access all texts.

While many foreign media outlets claim that they have prospered owing to charging their content on the Internet, professional associations of journalists in our country are still divided on this issue.
