RTS DISCARD MINISTER’S OPINION

Belgrade, August 29, 2012 (Danas) - Radio-television of Serbia (RTS) has discarded the opinion of the Education Minister Zarko Obradovic on the shortage of educational and scientific programs on the public service broadcaster and claimed to be the only domestic TV station that was thoroughly fulfilling its obligation and culturological mission.

In the press release issued by the Chief Editor of the Culture and Educational Program of RTS Miodrag Zupanc, the assessment of the minister Obradovic that "education and science are usually at the bottom of the ladder in informative programs" was negated by the fact that since July this year, RTS' Cultural and Educational program had aired 4.845 programs. The RTS' statement also included a list of a number of programs aired within education, children's, scientific and ecological programs, historical and documentary programs and programs from the field of culture and arts.

Zupanc also said that the program concept of RTS was approved by the Programming Committee of the Public Service Broadcasting and Programming Committee of the Republic Broadcasting Agency (RBA), which confirmed that RTS "meets the requirements for the functioning of the public service".
