FORMER RTS GENERAL MANAGER OUT OF JAIL

Belgrade, August 31, 2012 (Danas, B92) - Former general manager of RTS Dragoljub Milanovic was released this morning from Zabela prison in Pozarevac after serving 10 years of sentence.

Milanovic was held liable for the deaths of 16 media workers killed during NATO air raids on April 23, 1999. The verdict stated that Milanovic had failed to take necessary measures to protect and evacuate his employees that night.

Former RTS general manager is one of the rare offenders that have served their sentences in full, despite the fact that he had tried to hide in Montenegro instead of appearing at the prison after the first-instance sentence was pronounced.

Milanovic is still undergoing another court proceedings, in which he was charged with the illegal giving away of residence units to so-called "shortfall staff" of RTS back in late 90s. The process is in its final stage and the verdict is expected soon.
