GENDER EQUALITY increasingly respected in the media

Belgrade, September 11, 2012. (Danas) - Director of the Gender Equality Directorate, Natalija Micunovic, said that gender-sensitive language is slowly emerging in the Serbian media and that there is a growing number of positive examples. The declaration on the need for introducing of gender sensitive reporting in media and journalism studies was discussed at the conference organized on the occasion of the presentation of the "Guide to gender-sensitive approach for the media in Serbia". The declaration was signed by professors of journalism. "Language is the mirror of society development, it reflects social, economic, cultural and political relations in society, but also affects the development of social awareness and progress of a community. This is why the use of gender-sensitive language is one of the factors necessary for the achievement of gender equality, "said the Director.
