RTS HAS NO MEANS TO LITIGATE NON-PAYERS

Belgrade, September 10, 2012 (Kurir, B92) - In order to launch legal actions against half a million households for not paying the TV fee, RTS needs 950 million RSD, the Belgrade daily Kurir reports.

"However, RTS does not have the money for that, so the non-payers will most likely fair better than those who have regularly paid their dues", a well-informed source in business of the public service broadcaster told the daily.

According to the information from the First Basic Court in Belgrade, the lowest tax for filing charges is 1900 RSD for the debt amounting to 10.000 RSD. The tax increases with the amount of debts.

The Serbian courts' portal says that only 142 lawsuits involving RTS are registered at the First Basic Court in Belgrade, however, the public service broadcaster is acting in these cases as a sued party, not as plaintiff.
