PETKOVIC: WE WILL NOT CONTROL MEDIA

Belgrade, September 7, 2012 (Dnevnik) - The new government will not control the media, but would rather aim to pass a set of new media laws by March 2013 that would foster media freedom and independence in line with the European standards, said Culture and Media Minister Bratislav Petkovic.

The Culture Minister said that the Media Strategy for the period until 2016, which was adopted by the former administration on September 28 last year, "represents the foundation for the future work" and that the working drafts of the prepared laws would be once more reviewed before being put to the public debate.
