KOLAREVIC AND TADIC NEED TO TALK

Belgrade, September 6, 2012 (B92) - The Ministryu of Culture has received a new request for the dismissal of the Deputy Minister Dragan Kolarevic, however, there has been no discussion about his accountability or litigation so far, the State Secretary in the said Ministry Miroslav Tasic said.

Tasis claims that Kolarevic's text was read at the Ministry of Culture and Media, over which the president of Democratic Party Boris Tadic demanded his dismissal, but with no further actions or any proceedings being taken after that.

"We believe that there simply must be a dialog between the two. One man may express his opinion, the other may either oppose or agree. This time, this involves two persons in high positions, but nevertheless, why couldn't they sit down and talk?", Tasic said.

Democratic Party president Boris Tadic demanded, in a written statement sent to media, the dismissal of the Deputy Culture Minister, due to his article "It is time for the first Serbian culture rising", published a month ago.

In the said article, Kolarevic listed a number of public figures as "holders and executors of a destructive anti-Serbian politics in Serbia". The list contained the names of Zdravko Colic, Momcilo Bajagic, Dejan Mijac, Slobodan Sijan, Mira Banjac, Gordan Kicic, Branislav Trifunovic, Rados Bajic, Vojislav Brajovic, Svetozar Cvetkovic, Predrag Ejdus, Branislav Lecic, Branko Cvejic, Tihomir Stanic, but also Lazar Ristovski, Vjera Mujovic, Tanja Mandic Rigonat, Milena Sesic, Biljana Srbljanovic, Jovan Cirilov, Timothy John Byford and other artists who had supported Democratic Party and Boris Tadic in his election campaign, as well as Liberal Democratic Party and Cedomir Jovanovic.

Compiling a list of "holders and executors of a destructive anti-Serbian politics" with full names of eminent figures in the culture domain is scandalous, anti-civilizational act that has already been seen in its worst form in the history, during the Nazis", said Tadic in his letter.
