"Transparent ownership in the media neccessary"

Belgrade, October 11.2012. (B92, Beta) - In its new report, European Commission states that it is necessary to ensure the transparency of media ownership and calls for accelerating the implementation of the Media Strategy.

The report states that there is a legal framework that guarantees freedom of expression and adds that the number of attacks and threats against journalists decreased slightly, but that proactive approach of the police and judiciary is still needed.

"It is necessary to ensure the full transparency of the ownership structure of the media, and also the need to accelerate the implementation of the Media Strategy," it is said in the European Commission' report.
