GOVERNMENT WEAK AT SOCIAL NETWORKS

Belgrade, October 4, 2012 (B92, Danas) - The Serbian Government is not yet officially presented on social networks and the Head of its Office for cooperation with media Milivoje Mihailovic says it has no plans to activate this channel of communication either.

The ministries of defense, finance and trade and justice have, however, opened their official Facebook and Twitter accounts. Ministry of Defense has even 5.800 likes on its FB page and more than 700 thousand views on YouTube channel.

The Ministry of Justice says it has recognizes the importance of activities on internet, so it has around 200 followers on Twitter and more than 1.300 "friends" on its Facebook fun page.

As for official websites, the ministries have not yet started to use them. Some of them are still "under construction" and contain only elementary information. Some ministries did not even have one until two days ago. Few ministries - transportation, natural resources and mining, have inherited domains from the previous composition that no longer exist, thus the websites do not correspond to their official names. The Ministry of transportation is for example at the address mie.gov.rs, Ministry of natural resources, mining and urban planning at ekoplan.gov.rs, while the Finance and Trade Ministry is at merr.gov.rs.
