Local media endangered

Pozarevac, November 5, 2012. (Danas - Branicevo) - Around ten print and electronic media in Pozarevac plunged into a financial crisis because the city has not paid contracted funds for months.

The weekly "Okrug", whose last issue was not printed, is one of the media that suffer the consequences of this situation.

- The city owes us 550,000 dinars, which threatened our normal operations. Therefore, we were unable to print 198th issue of our paper, so we apologize to all readers - says Nenad Petrovic, chief editor of "Okrug". In protest at the way of distribution of city funds to the media, Radio Boom 93 ceased report on activities of the local governments.

- Besides the payment of the owned funds, we seek establishment of an independent commission to decide on the allocation of funds in a way that is not led by the interest of political parties - the editorial board of Radio Bum 93 states.
