Petkovic: State to help public service broadcasting

Belgrade, November 19, 2012. (RTV) - The state has to help in solving the problem of the Radio-Television of Vojvodina that has no headquarter building. The Government will discuss this issue - Bratislav Petkovic, the Culture Minister, said. He said that RTS and RTV faced great financial challenges and that this issue must be resolved as soon as possible.

"I believe that the model of BBC or HTV would be applied, if applicable, because financing of public service broadcasting should be mandatory," Petkovic said after the meeting with the Provincial Secretary of Culture and Information Slavisa Grujic held in Novi Sad.

Grujic, who had previously said RTV is a special brand, stressed that the Republic and the Province have to work together in order to find a solution to the problems of both public services broadcasters. He added that after this first meeting, it was clear that the both sides shared the views on this issue and that he hoped for a good cooperation in the future.
