VALJEVO: DEATH THREATS TO JOURNALIST

Valjevo, January 3, 2013 (Beta, B92) - Journalist of "Privredni pregled" Slobodan Rakovic from Valjevo reported to have been threatened with death over the telephone.

"The threats have been made by a male person in a telephone call. I tried to call the cell number back, but it seemed that the SIM card had been removed immediately after the call", Rakovic told Beta news agency.

The journalist said that he had not been frightened by "such scums" and that he would continue to deal with contentious privatizations in Valjevo and Serbia on Valjevo-based VTV and in Belgrade "Privredni pregled" economic review.

It is not the first time journalists from Valjevo have been threatened before, like VTV editor Milan Milinovic, while journalists were insulted also at the last session of the City Assembly in 2012. After that, 22 journalists had sought protection from the prosecutor Miodrag Plazinic who had, according to Beta news agency, ordered the police to investigate the threats urgently.

The same request was made by the Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS).
