PORNOGRAPHY WITH NATIONAL FREQUENCY

Belgrade, December 20, 2012 (Politika) - Advertisements with explicit content could be seen these days in the teletexts of some TV channels with national frequency. The ads have crossed vague "administrative line" that separates messages of personal nature from pornography and concealed prostitution.

Goran Karadzic, Deputy Chairman of the RBA Council told daily Politika that the problem in this case was that there was no precise regulation for broadcasters' activities.

"Broadcasters need to have declarations for every ad placed in their program, which contains information on the business activity, legal entity advertised, service provided and the like. If concealed prostitution is the issue here, then the Prosecutor's Office is competent for that. Media should not publicize activities outside the legal scope, such as drug dealing or prostitution. This has nothing to do with the protection of minors, as concealed prostitution is a much serious offense", Karadzic warned.

If the trade inspector has established the irregularity in applying regulations under the Advertising Law, he may pronounce measure of prohibiting advertising, as well as file a request to the court competent for initiating procedure for illicit or commercial offense, with foreseen fines amounting to hundred thousand to three million RSD.
