UNS: KEEP THE ARTICLE IN THE CODE

Belgrade, December 18, 2012 (San) - Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS) has voiced its dissapointment over putting the provision equalling protection of journalists to the one of officials out of force.

In its statement signed by UNS President Ljiljana Smajlovic, the association reminded that, by deleting this arctile from the Criminal Code, the journalists would lose all they had fought for three years ago. Threats to journalists are still violating freedom of expression.

More stringent punishments for attacks on journalists were supported earlier also by Prime Minister Ivica Dacic.
