PETKOVIC: MINISTRY FAILED TO REACT

Belgrade, January 23, 2013 (Dnevnik) - Culture and Media Minister Bratislav Petkovic said yesterday that this Ministry had failed to react to threats to media by "Nasi" organization.

Meeting with the editors of culture newsrooms of Belgrade media, Petkovic said that this ommission by the Ministry was discussed at the session of the Parliament's Culture and Information Committee last week held last week.

"The opportunity to react was missed and it will not happen again", Petkovic said.

The movement "Nasi" called on the ban of certain media over the allegations that they had been financed by Albanian and Croatian mafia. The Prosecutor's Office has recently ordered the police to conduct investigation of some activities of this organization, such as burning of Vojvodina flag and posters against media, NGOs and individuals.
