LAWSUIT AGAINST SNP NASI

Belgrade, January 19, 2013 - President of the Serbian Parliament's Committee for constitutional issues Vladimir Cvijan said yesterday that, according to available information, the Prosecutor's Office had initiated legal proceedings against SNP "Nasi".

Cvijan told B92 that criminal charges had been filed against individuals coming from this organization and that the launching of adequate procedures before the Constitutional Court would follow soon.

Cvijan also said that the Ministry of Justice and Minister Nikola Selakovic, in cooperation with media and journalists' associations, had proposed amendments to the Criminal Code at one of the last sessions of the Parliament.

Movement "Dveri" issued a statement yesterday claiming to be against the banning of organizations that were compiling lists of NGOs and media being under foreign influence. The movement proposed legal solutions that would make the area of financing of local media and NGOs more transparent. Dveri also proposed the adoption of a new Law on Non-Government Organizations based on solutions of Russian legislation, which was claimed to be a mild version of stringent legal solutions implemented in the United States.
