VUCIC ORDERED FULL ACCESS TO RECORDS

Belgrade, January 28, 2013 (Blic Online) - The First Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said today at the first session of the Commission for examining facts in investigations of murders of journalists in Serbia that the records and documents would be fully accessible and that perpetrators should be brought to justice.

"This is crucial for survival of the rule of law. Papers were full of articles about the murders, but we have never reached the indictments. No one has the license to kill in Serbia. Criminals must answer", Vucic said at the session, when the decision was passed to propose to the Government to broaden the competence to investigating murders of RTS workers during the NATO air raids.

Vucic also emphasized the importance of cooperation of journalists with the police and security services, for the purpose of conducting control over the investigations. Vucic also ordered full access to records and documents in the archives.

Chairman of the Commission Veran Matic, director of TV B92, anticipated problems "with ethics at all levels if the murders of journalists were not solved". Matic said that he would do his best to ensure the independence in the work of the Commission from any state body.
