FINANCING OF CINEMATOGRAPHY

Belgrade, February 1, 2013 (Politika) - The Republic Agency for Electronic Communications (RATEL) has issued a public statement over the media reports on financing of domestic cinematography from Ratel, RBA and RTS sources.

Provisions of the Articles 19 and 20 of the Law on Cinematography stipulate that the funds for local cinematography shall be ensured, among others, from RATEL revenues obtained in a manner prescribed by provisions of the Law on Electronic Communications, in the amount of 10 percent of revenues obtained from fees, which make a larger part of RATEL revenues.

The Law on Cinematography has been applied since July 3, 2012 and is stipulating that the funds for stimulating local cinematography from revenues obtained in the previous year should be paid no later than June 30 of the following year for the previous year, in a separate account of the Film Center of Serbia. The amount of funds that should be paid to the Film Center of Serbia for the period of July 3 to December 31, 2012 will be established after the adoption of the RATEL's annual financial report, as well as the adoption of the 2012 report of an independent auditor, by no later than March 31, 2013. This amount will be paid into the appropriate account within the legal deadline.
