RTS NEED 100 MILLION EUROS

Belgrade, February 6, 2013 (Blic) - Interest-free loan of 1.8 million Euros that the Serbian Government approved for resolving of problems of the public service broadcaster RTS, is not enough, according to RTS director Aleksandar Tijanic.

"Obligation of the state is to ensure the funds of 100 million Euros to the public service broadcaster, as RTS will have only 68 million this year. There are three sources of financing - marketing, TV subscription fee and the budget. If the state, due to bad legal solutions and inefficiency cannot ensure the necessary funds, then it has only two options: either to provide for the missing funds from the budget, or to shut down the public service broadcaster", Tijanic said.

"We have been approved only 1.8 million Euros, which is just not enough for salaries of 4.000 employees, out of which 1000 is pending dismissals as they are surfeit", Tijanic concluded.
