NO MONEY FOR RTS

Belgrade, March 7, 2013 (Informer) - The competent state authorities have not yet found a final solution for the fee collection for public service broadcasters, and it is almost certain that the RTS will not be financed through citizen's taxes.

Experts estimate that this problem will not be resolved easily and the current method of charging through electricity bills is better than other proposals. The working group for the development of media laws at the Ministry of Culture has informally proposed the replacement of the current method with charging the fee through citizen's property tax.

This proposal was criticized by the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic. Therefore, the final proposal of the Working Group will be known in two weeks.
