NO CONSENSUS, NO MONEY

Kraljevo, April 9, 2013 (Politika) - Krajevo Mayor Dragan Jovanovic (SNS) has conditioned allocation of funds for information from the budget with mutual agreement of local media.

12 million dinars of local budget funds were intended for local and regional media. But, the money will be allocated as mayors see fit. Following that example, Kraljevo mayor has decided to first act as a "democrat", asking local media owners to produce their own allocation plan.

A month ago, owners and editors of three local television stations, two radio stations and one newspaper, sent their harmonized proposal of allocation of funds to the mayor. However, he decided to correct this proposal as he saw fit, decreasing amounts to some media, and giving funds to yet another cable TV station and to internet editions of two print media.

Eight out of nine media owners had agreed to that as well, but when the contracts were expected to be signed, TV Kraljevo had decided to revoke their consent, insisting on larger amount of funds as the media operated as TV, radio and print media.

Kraljevo mayor demanded even greater solidarity between media, and decided to postpone the allocation of funds yet again.
