POLITICIANS CHARGED

Nis, April 10, 2013 (Danas) - Fourteen non-governmental organizations from Nis and Serbia have strongly condemned the threats made to the chief editor and journalist of the internet portal "Juzne vesti" Predrag Blagojevic and demanded the immediate "revoking of discharge of public functions in the city" of those responsible for making the threats.

"Threatening media means threatening the right of citizens to be informed", says in the statement of the non-governmental sector, which commended the swift reaction of the Police in Nis.

On April 8, the Nis Police filed criminal charges against Milutin Ilic from SNS, Dobrivoje Stanimirovic from SNS and Mija J. over the suspicion for having threatened the journalist for his articles about employment on the basis of political affiliation.
