FORMER VALJEVO MAYOR AVOIDED TRIAL

Valjevo, April 16, 2013. (Naše novine) - Former Mayor of Valjevo, Dragoljub Krstic, did not appear today at the hearing in the Municipal Court on the complaint for defamation and slander filed by the editor of Radio Patak, Darija Rankovic. Judge Mirjana Novakovic scheduled a new hearing for May 22 and announced the possibility of police arrests in case Krstic fails to appear again.

Rankovic sued Krstic over an incident at the Assembly of Valjevo on December 24, 2012, claiming that he called her "scum". The session was then interrupted; almost all the journalists left the hall and boycotted the City Parliament until the session was over. Due to  personnel-related misunderstanding between Socialists (SPS) and Progressives (SNS), the session lasted from December 17, 2012. to January 31, 2013.
