$8.8 MILLION TO SERBIAN MEDIA

Belgrade, April 26, 2013 (Kurir) - The American Agency for International Development USAID program of support to Serbian media has lasted for 4 years, starting from September 2008 and offering great financial support to Serbian media in the amount of 8.8 million dollars.

"The project was aimed at supporting media in Serbia for building sustainability and professional capacities of local and regional media and institutions supporting media to advocate for the interests of this sector and for monitoring and oversite", it was said in the USAID.

The project has foreseen the strengthening of institutions supporting the media, local televisions and internet portals, but also increasing the quality and availability of information to all citizens.

Thanks to this project, around 1500 journalists in Serbia have been trained in a number of different educational programs, while over 250 media and organizations have received some form of assistance through this project.
