CARDIN: TO FIND RESPONSIBLE FOR CURUVIJA’S MURDER

Belgrade, May 4, 2013 (Tanjug) - On the occasion of marking the World Press Freedom Day, US Sentator Ben Cardin, who is presiding over the Helsinki Commission, called for ending violations of journalists and finding assassins of journalist Slavko Curuvija.

"Free and independent media are a founding stone of commitments taken by countries OSCE members. Unfortunately, in meny of them, journalists are still threatened and violated, even murdered, while perpetrators walk away unpunished", Senator Cardin said.

Cardin also expressed hope that the Serbian Government Commission, established in February, would find persons behind Slavko Curuvija's murder.
