RERUNS PREVAILING ON RTS

Belgrade, May 18, 2013 (Danas) - In the last year, three-fourths of the total series' program broadcast on RTS 1 were reruns, while 61 percent of reruns were from their own production, 11 percent were foreign and almost 2 percent of domestic series programs not produced by RTS, says in the report of the Republic Broadcasting Agency on meeting the legal requirements of the public service broadcaster.

On the other hand, 25 percent of the series programs were the shows aired for the first time, predominantly foreign series.

According to the RBA data, RTS 2 was rerunning series in 68 percent of the total program, 32 percent were premiere broadcasting, all of which were foreign shows.

In 2012, RTS aired 6.56 percent of independent productions on its first program and 9.02 on the second. Judging by this data, RTS has yet again failed to meet its obligation as a public service broadcaster to air at least 10 percent of the total annual program of independent productions.
