BETA JOURNALIST OBSTRUCTED ON ASSIGNMENT

Novi Sad, May 20, 2013 (NDNV) - Independent Journalists' Association of Vojvodina (NDNV) condemned the behavior of Novi Sad Fair security staff preventing journalist of the Beta news agency Dragan Gojic from reporting from the celebration ceremony of the 90 years of Novi Sad Fair, which was attended by the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic.

The journalists' organization demanded that those obstructing Gojic while on assignment be held responsible.

At the celebration, Gojic was told that "he had not passed the security check" therefore he was not allowed in the hall, it was said in the statement. The association also noted that Gojic was regularly accredited for reporting from Novi Sad Fair in 2013.

Dragan Gojic is a long time journalist of the Beta news agency consigned in the past to many professional assignments attended by high state and foreign officials.
