PETKOVIC: THE LAW ON ELECTRONIC MEDIA SOON

Belgrade, May 25, 2013 (Danas) - Culture and Media Minister Bratislav Petkovic said yesterday that he expected that only one law on electronic media would be presented, and that the public discussion on its draft could begin as early as next week. "I think that the public discussion should begin at the beginning of (the next) week. There were some dilemmas to be sort out - about TV subscription fee and budget financing. The Draft Law is finished and shall be put to the public debate next week or at the end of the month the latest", Petkovic said, making an address at the info session for the project "Strengthening Media Freedom", organized by the EU Delegation to Serbia.

Asked whether two laws would be proposed - on electronic media and on public service broadcasters, the minister said that he expected only one law on electronic media to be debated.
