LAWS MUST BE APPLICABLE

Belgrade, May 30, 2013 (Novi magazin) - The OSCE Mission to Serbia has, in the past years, been the most active participant, or more precisely, mediator, in shaping the future Serbian media scene, first in the creation of the Media Study, then Strategy, and finally in the implementation of this strategic document - adoption of the set of media laws.

"Our endeavor is to assist this government, professional associations and media to create conditions for development of independent and diverse media. The citizens of this country need this to be provided with objective information on all issues and themes of importance to the society", Dragana Solomon from the OSCE Media Department said.

"More important question than whether the deadlines of the Strategy have been disobeyed is whether the adopted solutions are the best possible, applicable and aligned with the international standards. Only such legal framework will contribute to better informing of the citizens and the process of democratization of Serbia", Solomon said.
