BIG TV NUISANCE

Belgrade, June 1, 2013 (Vecernje novosti) - One of the "controlling" bodies that should monitor all events and developments in the electronic media sphere in Serbia, the Broadcasting Agency (RBA) has the authority to determine and sanction the violations of the code of broadcasters' conduct, especially when it comes to "reality programs".

Member of the RBA Gordana Susa says this regulator has reacted mostly on complaints of citizens and based on findings of the Program Oversight and Analysis Department.

At one occasion, the RBA Council reacted in the case of TV Pink, asking the broadcaster to stop airing the show "Preljubnici" (Adulterers) and to push broadcasting of another program "Trenutak istine" (Moment of truth) to a 23.30 time slot. The broadcaster fully accepted the instruction of the regulator and apologized to viewers in its main news bulletins.

The RBA has issued 67 reprimands so far, 11 warnings, one measure of temporary revoking of broadcasting license and has filed around 370 claims for launching misdemeanor charges against broadcasters for violating programmatic requirements as well as the Advertising Law.
