RBA: NO ONE INTERESTED IN NATIONAL FREQUENCY

Belgrade, July 6, 2013 (Politika) - There is still no candidate TV interested for the national frequency formerly used by TV Avala, it was confirmed at the Republic Broadcasting Agency (RBA).

The Agency says that the candidates may send in their applications no later than the legally set deadline, July 9. Although certain media is speculating on the frequency being allocated to Dejan Jocic, former director of the TV Prva denies such allegations, confirming for the daily that he will not be participating in the competition.

The decision to call a competition for the national frequency was criticized by the Delegation of the European Union in Serbia. The Head of the Delegation Vincent Degert sent a letter to the Minister of Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic, stating that he had no intention of inquiring why the state had not yet allocated free frequency that could have been used for the digitalization, but that the state should have taken a political liability for the equipment worth 8 million Euros, granted to Serbia by the EU.
