DEGERT: SERIOUS DELAYS IN STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION

Belgrade, July 15, 2013 (Politika) - Head of EU Delegation Vincent Degert warned of the serious belatedness in the implementation of the Media Strategy, adopted back in September 2011, as well as in reforming the media system, given that key media laws are still pending.

"It is obvious that the media, as well as Tanjug, will need to be reformed, this way or another. It is up to Serbia to set up its priorities, as all must have the same conditions and rules of the game", Degert said.

"I am not sure the termination of TV subscription fee is the best solution, but you simply have to find an alternative. The citizens will pay the TV fee, this way or the other".

Degert at the same time warned of the RTV as another public service broadcaster apart from RTS, as it plays a special role when it comes to minorities and programs in minority languages.
