POLICE ASSESMENT BY LAW

Belgrade, July 16, 2013 (Vecernje Novosti) - Following up on the media reporting about the police protection provided to Veran Matic and other media representatives, the Serbian Ministry of Interior released a statement yesterday, claiming that the competent authorities had made safety assessment based on justified information obtained as a result of joint work with the Prosecution for Organized Crime and Security Intelligence Service (BIA).

"No assessment has been made on personal request of Matic or any other protected figures. The Police have made assessment based solely on the professional observations of current situation and possible consequences on the safety and security issue", it was said in the statement.
