TANJUG AS GOVERNMENT’S BUREAU, RTS AND RTV ON STATE BUDGET FOR TWO YEARS

Belgrade, August 5, 2013 (FoNet) - The Culture and Media Assistant Minister Dragan Kolarevic announced today that the news agency Tanjug would be transformed into the Government's information bureau while the RTS and RTV would be financed from the state budget in next two years.

Kolarevic explained the concept of transforming the state news agency Tanjug into the Government's communications bureau, mirroring the German model.

Speaking on public services, Kolarevic said that was decided that RTS and RTV Vojvodina would be financed from the state budget for the next two years, even though there was opposition to this solution.

As for the local media, Kolarevic confirmed that the method of project financing would be introduced, so the municipalities, the City of Belgrade and other local governments, would allocate the funds to the media through public competitions.

He said that the state would withdraw from the media and that no one shall be privileged.
