ALL TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR DIGITALIZATION MET

"The Initial network will be extended with the frequency of TV Avala", Lazarevic announced, speaking for the RTS News.

Lazarevic also said that the program would be broadcast from 35 locations and reminded that the Ministry had adopted the Rulebook on Frequency Allocation last week, which had provided for the conditions for fast and effective conclusion of the digitalization process. "TV Avala was using the network comprised of 33 frequencies, whereas 15 are needed for extending the initial network", Lazarevic said.

He added that the remaining 18 frequencies would stay unused; however, if one day someone would use any of them, it would not affect or stop the process of digitalization in any way.

According to Lazarevic, extending of the initial network will employ the equipment that Serbia has received from EU, while on the other hand, the conditions have been created for better informing of the Serbian citizens. Lazarevic said that 80 percent of citizens would be able to receive digital signal after the extension of the network. Besides, this will also create conditions for "simulcast", namely, simultaneous broadcasting of analog and digital program.
