JOURNALIST PAYS 120.000 DINARS TO VREBALOV

Zrenjanin, November 29, 2013 (Dnevnik) VERDICT OF HIGH COURT IN ZRENJANIN

High court in Zrenjanin issued first instance verdict, according to which editor-in-chief of monthly magazine "Novobecejski informator" and spokesperson of local municipality in Novi Becej Nevena Subotic needs to pay 120.000 dinars compensation for non-pecuniary damage to the current Vice President of  Vojvodina Assembly and former President of Novi Becej local municipality Milivoj Vrebalov for attack on his honor and reputation. She is also to pay the proceedings expenses based on the same verdict.  

Former President of Novi Becej municipality sued Nevena Subotic for the text "Salary of the former President ten times higher than the average one of Novi Becej citizens". The text was published in August in the local monthly magazine, the owner of which is public enterprise "Radio Novi Becej".

It was published that Vrebalov's monthly salary amounted to 300.000 dinars, while the Head of the municipality. Vrebalov's salary was around 240.000 dinars on the average in 2012, and the rest was daily allowance.
