Results of the first research phase presented- Media literacy in Serbia
Belgrade, November 28, 2013 (Media Monitor) - Media coalition comprised of Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (IJAS), Association of Serbian Journalists (ASJ), Association of Independent electronic media (ANEM), Independent Journalists' Association of Vojvodina (IJAV) and Local press implemented a research on level of media literacy in Serbia. The research was realized by the Bureau of social research (BIRODI) -within project "Campaign for media literacy".
The results of phase I of this research done by Media coalition were presented in Media center today by Sanja Stamenkovic, researcher of the Bureau for social research and the author of the report on research results.
The research realized by BIRODI encompasses the sample of 3000 people, comprised by high school students, professors of Civics education classes, journalists and students of journalism.
At this gathering, few more people had opportunity to speak: Jovanka Matic, scientific associate of Institute of social sciences, Melita Randjelovic, coordinator of Body of Civics education professors and Nedim Sejdinovic, President of Executive Board of Independent Asssociation of Vojvodina Journalists.
"Campaign for media literacy" the goal of which is to raise awareness on the importance of critical analysis and professional journalism in democratic society is supported by USAID.
