OSCE: SWITZERLAND WILL NOT RESPOND TO VUČIĆ’S CRITICISM

11.6.2014 (Beta, Mondo) - Switzerland, which holds the OSCE chairmainship, will not respond to the criticism of the organization by the Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić, said Raphael Nägeli, Deputy Head of the OSCE Chairmanship Task Force.

He assessed that it is a consequence of internal developments in Serbia.

"We found out about it from the media, but we did not get a request as the Chair of OSCE. We will not respond", Nägeli said to Serbian journalists in Bern.

He added that a comment should be sought from the OSCE Mission to Serbia because it is "more connected with the developments" in the country.

Asked if the statements of the Serbian Prime Minister will influence the cooperation of Switzerland and Serbia, with the latter assuming chairmanship of OSCE next year, Nägeli said that the two countries so far have had good cooperation at all levels and that he is looking forward to this cooperation during Serbian chairmanship.

Vučić yesterday stated that many from the international community, including some ambassadors, and the Deputy Head of the OSCE mission to Serbia Paula Thiede, "are lying and putting pressure on the media to lead a campaign against him and his family".
